With a new support boat available and new sails on two of the Hansa 303s the second half of the 16 year old season began on February 6th with sailing for people from local organisations which support people with disability.

A new group from Capel Sands in newly re named suburb Capel Sound attended and four people were lifted using slings and the small dock crane. Some sailed for the first time in their long lives.

With easy small bus access to the sailing area off the marina hardstand the program on Tuesday had 22 BYS Volunteers provide safe sailing and boating activity for about 40 visitors.

Funding support from government and local organisations and private individuals to the tune of $12,000 in 2017 ensures that the program is well provided for and the service is free for the participants.

Sailability Blairgowrie began in 2002 thanks to BYS and founding members the late Geoffrey Watson and his wife Eily. It now operates each week on Tuesdays and the Hansa 303s are also made available to members and the community at weekends and in holiday times.
