SOUTHERN PENINSULA RESCUE SERVICE
Blairgowrie Yacht Squadron (BYS) and Southern Peninsula Rescue Squad (SPRS) have entered into an agreement that will result in SPRS relocating its operations from its existing location at Sorrento into the redeveloped Scotts’ Shed. The redevelopment was completed in December 2012.
SPRS occupy a berth in the Blairgowrie Safe Boat Harbour. This has improved the response time of SPRS by having the rescue vessel in the water and ready to go. The relocation of its entire operation to BYS has resulted in a greater response time improvement by having other equipment on site at BYS.
The top floor observation tower of the redevloped Scotts’ Shed has become the operational base of SPRS. This space will also be available for use by BYS during major regattas when it will function as a regatta control centre. SPRS will also have access to the training room in order to run training programs for its members.
