Sail Training Update

BYS Junior & Youth Sailing

What a magic Sunday 4th December we had for BYS Junior and Youth Sail Training. Sailors were presented with sensational sunshine and a 30 degree day with light NNE breeze, absolutely perfect for light wind sail training. Our largest JST Group, Green Group continues to progress in leaps and bounds led by Hannah Danks and ably assisted this Sunday by Riya Fordyce, Charley McCarthy and Cassie McCarthy. White Group led by Tom Warner this Sunday allowed sailors to have a different Lead Instructor and learn many new skills. Orange Group has had the privilege of joining Blue & Purple Group for the last two weeks and with Ed Warner running this combined group out deep off BYS, Orange Group have been on a steep learning curve, seeing how Blue & Purple groups go about their training.

Youth Out There Squad mixed it up this Sunday with some Stand Up Paddle Board Lessons in ‘The Pond’ led by Harriette Singh and assisted by Shelby Legh. Much fun was had by all. Youth Racing Squad continue to learn under the tutelage of Ethan O’Brien. With a fading NNE breeze, it allowed YST to really focus on some light air skills and concentrate of smooth tacking and gybing and learning essential skills of body movement and weight placement. Well Done Everyone! We look forward to seeing you all next Sunday 11th December with JST kicking off again at 0900 and Youth Sailing at 10.00am sharp.

Congratulations to all sailors and special thanks to our Instructors and Assistant Instructors, many whom have not been personally mentioned who continue to give our sailors an amazing experience.  Special mention to members Scott Hailes and Richard Backwell, for their ongoing assistance to the Sail Training program and their unwavering support to all sailors, helping rig their Minnows, sort any problems, and get them out on the water. Thank you Team!

We look forward to seeing you all next Sunday 11 December with JST kicking off again at 09.00 and Youth Sailing at 10.00am sharp.
