In line with Stage 4 restrictions, which are now in place for the next six weeks, as you would expect our club has an obligation to comply with the Victorian government’s advice. As a consequence of this new level of restriction, the activities of the club have been significantly impacted. With these changes in place I wanted to give you all an update on how this impacts BYS and how we operate.

First and foremost our focus is on the safety of our staff, who are now all working remotely from home. With this change, both the main office and the marina office are closed, even though club operations are still running in the background. All phones have been diverted so you can still call the club if you have any questions; however, if you find you are unable to get hold of a particular member of staff immediately, please leave a message or email, and be assured someone will get back to you as soon as is practicable.

As per the requirements of the Victorian government we developed a Covid Safe plan for the club and will make this available online shortly, so keep an eye out on the BYS website.

With the marina team working remotely, I imagine this needs further explanation. Libby Ayton (Marina Operations Manager) and her team will continue to undertake twice daily inspections of the entire marina to ensure the marina and your boats are safe and secure. All other activity, in particular on-shore activities as per the government directives, will be limited to emergency works only for this 6-week period. Members should not feel the need to visit the marina to check on their boats. However, if you are concerned about your boat, please contact the marina office and they will be able to check for you during their inspection.

Finally, access to the clubhouse and Scotts’ Shed is now limited to permitted staff only, with no member access to the toilets, the spar room, etc. until further notice.

I hope you are all safe, staying at home, wearing your masks, and above all, looking after one another (albeit remotely!).
