Located on the first level, with direct access to the deck, it’s a great place to watch the bay and the beach over summer. In winter there is no better place to be than enjoying the couches in front of the warming fire. The Racing Lounge and deck area offers quick and tasty bar snacks and a great bistro menu. For further information on dining at BYS please refer to the FAQs at the bottom of this page
Our bar and bistro is open in-line with the current Victorian Government restrictions – with a max seating capacity of 60 people for indoor dining / 100 outside on deck
In the short-term, members can bring only ONE guest (immediate family or friend).

What are your opening hours?
Our Bar and Bistro opening hours may differ depending on the time of year. During Xmas and January we are open 7 days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner. For the other 11 months of the year our opening hours are reduced to certain days and times of the week. Please refer to the table above for the current opening times for the Bar / Bistro.
Do I need to book for lunch / dinner?
We strongly advise booking your table in advance, as there are times when we are full and unfortunately are unable to accommodate walk-ins. Therefore to avoid disappointment we do encourage you to book via the online booking system, or by calling Reception during office hours (Mon-Fri 9am-5pm) to book over the phone 5925 9600.
Do I need to be a member to come for a drink/meal?
From Boxing Day until end of January only members can book for dining in the bistro. However, oOutside of January, non-members are welcome to come along and dine in our Bistro, however there is a limited number of times this is possible. It is also mandatory that you be signed-in by a member of staff behind the bar, this covers our Liquor Licensing regulations. The bar staff are able to sign you in upto 6 times between May-October and another 6 times between November-April (excluding January). Note that during January, when the club is extremely busy, we can only allow non-members to dine at the club if they are guests of a member, again they still need to be signed-in.
IMPORTANT COVID UPDATE – Unfortunately we are unable to sign-in non-members until further notice, due to the limits on numbers that we can accommodate in the dining room / deck.
Can I bring a guest/s?
Members are entitled to bring guests with them up to 12 times per year, split over off-peak and peak periods – this being 6 times between May-October and 6 times between November – April. Note that guests MUST be signed-in at all times to cover our Liquor Licensing regulations. There is no limit to the number of guests a member can bring, however, EACH guest must adhere to the number of times that they can be signed-in, which is mentioned before (i.e. up to a maximum of 12 times per year)
IMPORTANT COVID UPDATE – Until further notice, members can only bring ONE guest each (being immediate family or a close friend). This is due to the limits on numbers that we can accommodate in the dining room / deck.
Can I bring my own bottle of wine?
Unfortunately we do not allow BYO alcohol. We are a fully licensed venue and all alcohol must be purchased from the bar.
