BLAIRGOWRIE YACHT SQUADRON

WELCOME TO THE 2023-24 SEASON CLUB CAPTAIN'S MESSAGE

Welcome to the 2023-24 sailing season! We anticipate another fantastic year of sailing and good times on the water – and another ripper Club Captain’s Party.

I am delighted to announce that our beloved club is making significant investments to enhance both our patrol boat fleet and sailing fleet, paving the way for exciting opportunities and experiences on the water.

In the realm of patrol boats, we have exciting plans in store. Two new, larger RIBs will soon grace our waters, allowing us to retire Patrol 9 and expand out fleet by one. This development is a major win for our sail training programs, as it will bolster our capacity to serve our members during peak summer when demand is high. Our sailing fleet is also in for a significant upgrade with the acquisition of six new pacers. These new additions will be integral in expanding our learn-to-sail and dinghy training programs, catering to kids, teens, and adults alike.

To add to the excitement, our Club racing program will see several improvements and changes. The keelboat fleet will be divided into two division, Div A and Div B for many race series, and we have new longer courses designed to suit our current fleets. Off the beach sailors, get ready for more on-the-wind starts and double race days. There will also be the much-awaited return of the Wind Warriors in the pond, offering competitive sailing competition and a great spectacle for members.

In line with our mission to get ‘more people on the water more often’ there are now more opportunities to join crews on the Club’s J/70s and pacers for training and racing, and we want members to take advantage of everything on offer.

Finally, it cannot be said enough, how important our amazing volunteers are. Our on-water programs just wouldn’t be possible without the extensive volunteer hours contributed. To our volunteers, I thank you for sharing your time and skills. If you would like to volunteer, please contact the Sailing Office.

See you on the water.
