- YA Safety Boat Operator
This course will equip candidates to manage life threatening emergencies until professional medical help arrives. The courses focus includes CPR, treatment of common medical conditions and situation recognition and management.

A VHF Marine Radio Licence (Certificate of Proficiency) is a legal requirement for everyone who use a marine VHF radio. The new Australian Waters Qualifications is here. Develop confidence, competent, and LEGAL in marine radio usage. The course is four hours, and covers theory and practical hands on instruction, followed by a theory and practical test.
Course is run by Peninsula Boat Training and held at Blairgowrie Yacht Squadron.
Duration and Fees: 4 Hours (9am – 1pm) Cost $155 for BYS members (normally $175)

This course includes intermediate boat handling skills and seamanship for a variety of boat types. The course includes boat launching, engines and fuel, types of craft and navigation. It aims to improve boat handling skills at low and planing speeds, all of which may be practised during a short passage. A powerboat licence is required to complete this course.
Duration and Fees: 8 Hours – $160

This course will develop your powerboat skills so that you can support all water-based activities at sailing clubs, schools and recreation centres. If you want to become a qualified sailing instructor, coach or official, this course is ideal.
You’ll learn about race course design, practice on-water rescue of dinghies and multi-hulls, and get an awareness of techniques to support kite surfers and kayaks. You’ll also discover how to safely rescue or re-right other craft, recover persons from the water, and where to position your boat on a race course.
