Youth Sail Training

Our Youth Sail Training program is designed for youths wanting to get into sailing, as well as those who have come through the Junior Sail Training program. Its purpose is to encourage and promote youth sailing by providing pathways for youths aged 12-24 to develop the skills necessary to achieve and enjoy the sport of sailing in a fun and friendly environment. It is run in two streams – racing and sailing.

Youth Sail Training Fees

Youth Sailing & Youth Racing – $400 inc GST
Youth Sailing & Youth Racing (Two-Handed) – $730 inc GST
What do I get for my fees?
Weekly training with qualified coaches following the Discover Sailing Syllabus. At the conclusion of each level students will receive a certificate as well as information regarding further courses and club programs. Instructors will be available to discuss sailing pathways and general advice for those looking to continue their sailing experience.

Course Syllabus

Your Discover Sailing journey starts here as you learn the fundamental skills of sailing and are introduced to the fun of dinghy sailing in a safe and supportive environment. Areas covered during the season include Basic clothing and equipment selection, sailing terminology, boat launch and recovery, capsize recovery in shallow water, Rigging of the boat, capsize recovery in deeper water, sail a triangular course, basic sailing rules and theory.
Discover Sailing in stronger winds as you develop the skills required to get maximum speed from your dinghy. Your journey speeds up as you experience the thrill of using a spinnaker, and practice better control of your boat. This course is aimed at sailors who have completed Start Sailing 1 and 2, or who have more sailing experience.
Its purpose is to encourage and promote youth sailing by providing pathways for youth aged 12 -24 to develop the skills necessary to achieve continue enjoying the sport of sailing and achieve results in an competitive environment by giving our youth sailors coaching and training by experienced coaches.

Pacer Squad

Our Pacer Squad program is designed for 12 year olds and above. The pacer course is runs over four days for 3 hours. Pacer sailing will teach sailors the basics of sailing a two person dinghy allowing sailors to be confident in a boat and have loads of fun! This program is great for those who are looking at getting into sailing. No experience is needed – all equipment and boats are supplied!
